Hi fans! We're about to publish our press release about the upcoming adoption event, so here it is!
Burlington Subaru and the Humane Society of Chittenden County (HSCC) will jointly host a Pet Adoption Day at Burlington Subaru from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 1, 2012. The event is part of Subaru of America’s “Share the Love” event, an annual program where five different charities are selected; for every new Subaru vehicle that is purchased between Nov. 21, 2012 and Jan. 2, 2013, Subaru will donate $250 to the charity of the consumer’s choice.
For the fifth year in a row, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) has been selected, and has matched different Subaru dealers with local animal welfare agencies to host a variety of events, according to the ASPCA website.
This year, the HSCC and Burlington Subaru will join together to host an adoption event, where the HSCC will bring in animals from their shelter that are in need of a home to be showcased at the dealership for the day; there is no appointment needed to attend.
“HSCC jumped at this opportunity to find new homes for hopefully four times as many animals in a single Saturday as we ordinarily would at our adoption center. We hope this event brings lots of visibility to our animals and exposes new people to the joy of adopting a shelter animal,” said Megan Stearns, HSCC director of development and outreach.
“Give the gift of love this holiday season” is the chosen slogan for the event, and Mountain Dog Photography’s Kelly Schulze will be on site to photograph complimentary holiday portraits of pets with their new owners.
In honor of the event, Burlington Subaru has pledged to donate $100 for every animal that’s adopted at the event.
“Being a Subaru dealer, we’ve encompassed Subaru’s general gratitude for the companionship that animals give us as people. We’re very happy to be working with the Humane Society on this event and we hope that, with the help from our community, we can find these animals good, loving homes,” said Burlington Subaru General Manager Steve Kelson.
Pre-approval is not necessary, but will make the adoption process at the dealership move more quickly, according to HCSS’s Facebook event page. To get pre-approved to adopt an animal please see the HSCC application here.
