This year, as an added perk; two $1,000 scholarships were provided by NBT Bank and drawn via raffle at the event. The winners of the two scholarships were Emilie Manchester from Missisquoi Valley Union High School and Tyler VanDyk from Champlain Valley Union High School.
For this year's event, the staff at Burlington Subaru Hyundai sifted through the report cards of 554 students whose grades compiled the 14,211 entries this year. Levite was chosen at random as one of the 75 finalists for this year's Drive for Excellence and entered into the raffle to be chosen as the 2014 winner.
"It's a lot of work. This is the hardest year so far in high school," he said. "But all the hard work is worth it."
Levite is an all-seasons athlete; playing soccer as well as participating in both indoor and outdoor track. He's also a member of the Interact Club and CCS at South Burlington High School.
