The 2014 Subaru BRZ Earns an IIHS Top Safety Pick

The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) has honored the 2014 Subaru BRZ with an IIHS Top Safety Pick accolade. With the inclusion of the 2014 BRZ, Subaru now has seven models that have earned IIHS Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ honors for 2014.

"We are very pleased that BRZ has joined our other Top Safety Pick models," said Subaru of America, Inc. President and Chief Operating Officer Thomas J. Doll in the Subaru press release. "BRZ proves that it is possible to engineer a car that provides both driving enjoyment and safety."

David Higgins Secures 4th Consecutive Rally America Championship

Subaru Rally Team USA driver David Higgins is Rally America Champion alongside co-driver Craig Drew for the 4th year running after winning the New England Forester Rally in Newry, Maine. This is their fifth victory this season, which secured their spot as Champions despite there still being two events remaining.

Subaru teammates Travis Pastrana and co-driver Chrissie Beavis finished 2nd overall, which is their fourth consecutive 2nd place finish. Both Higgins and Pastrana were driving a Vermont SportsCar-prepared 2014 Subaru WRX STI rally car with DMACK rally tires.

Way to go Subaru Rally Team USA!

Subaru to Release Second-Generation BRZ

President of Fuji Heavy Industries has just announced that Subaru will in fact be releasing a second-generation Subaru BRZ. This announcement is coming after rumors were circulating that Subaru would not be involved in the production of the next generation.

Subaru Launches New Mobile App Featuring 360 Degree Video Technology

Subaru has just released a new app that lets users fully immerse themselves in Subaru Motorsports just by using their smartphone. The app has Subaru Motorsports images, videos, team updates and racing schedules, and also has information on local races and events, according to Subaru's press release.

The video experience is 360 degrees, allowing users to view the action from any direction with just a swipe of the finger or by moving their device from side-to-side. Subaru also intends to release a headset that will allow a virtual reality-type experience using something similar to ski goggles so that a user can experience the races just like they're actually there!

"Imagine sitting next to Bucky Lasek as he clears jumps and races door-to-door in rallycross, or peering over a cliff as David Higgins carves through a rally stage; it's as close as you can get to riding in the car itself."
