Next Generation Subaru EyeSight Gets Upgrades for 2015

Subaru's EyeSight driver assist system is getting big upgrades in 2015, including new color cameras, added radar technology and a smaller size.

Subaru EyeSight - 2015 Upgrade
The upgraded cameras have a detection range that's 40 percent longer and wider than the original, while the color allows the system to register brake lights at a speed differential of 30mph, versus the 19mph in the previous model. Since Subaru mounts the EyeSight system in the inside of the vehicle at the top of the windshield (to give protection and keep accuracy on the components of the system), the smaller size will make a difference in visibility for the driver.

Subaru EyeSight Driver Assist System Subaru has also added new radar systems for safety; a side- and rear-mounted radar for blind spot detection, lane change assist, and a Rear Cross Traffic Alert that detects vehicles up to 23 feet to the rear of the vehicle.

According to Subaru, the upgraded EyeSight will be available on the 2015 model line and will be offered on more vehicles, though we don't know just yet which specific models will have it. We'll keep you in the loop as we know more!
